Night Ride

Night Jungle Walk or Horseback Ride

Walk with our guide through Banana Bank grounds and on the Nature Trail or ride on into the jungle on a beautiful moon-lit night or during a dark starry night is quite the adventure. Immerse yourself in the sounds and smells of a jungle at night. Grab your headlights because you are about to have a memorable night experience.

During the Night Horseback Tour you will enjoy an exciting ride along broad-leaf forest trails, teak plantation, and pastures, to a hill top under a full moon. Riding through the jungle at night is exhilarating. You may spot kinkajous or owls high up in the trees. An occasional peccary or even once a tapir was spotted on the trail. Your keen senses will have your imagination running wild. We then meander down to the Belize River where we sometimes have a bonfire to roast marshmallows and hot dogs (we must have minimum of 8 riders for a bonfire). Finish your evening with the final journey by horse, back to the main lodge. Tour starts after dinner and last for 1 ½ - 3 hrs.

Flash/head lamps are provided (but you are welcome to bring your own)

During the Night Jungle Walk - your guide will show and teach you about different trees, plants and vines that have played important roles in human lives. Some produce edible fruits, some used for jungle hut construction, while others may contain medicinal values. Along these jungle trails, you may see nocturnal creatures such as kinkajous, insects, owls, and bats. At some point you will turn off your lights for a few minutes just to observe the silence, but yet the noisiness, of the night. You may hear the loud howl-like vocalization of the Black-and-White Owl, or the low toad-like murmuring of the Vermiculated Screech-Owl, and the shrill chirping of crickets, locusts, and grasshoppers.
