Banana Bank Home - Belize Horseback Riding Vacation, Belize Tours

September 2006 issue 12, Volume 1

Betex 2006

Banana Bank participated at Betex 2006, Belize's biggest trade show and put together our best booth ever. Staff members, under the guidance of our creative artist Carolyn Carr drew, painted, clipped and stapled, and a beautiful booth emerged. The show went extremely well and agents from many parts of the world stopped by to chat and learn more about Banana Bank Lodge.
The show ended on Friday and 20 agents came back to The Lodge to live a little bit of the Banana Bank vacation. It was great fun for them and for us. We rode horses and toured the river, then topped off the day with a great home cooked meal while Pito played guitar and sang Belizean songs. Read more about Betex here

Belize Independence Day Parade

September is always a month for celebration in Belize. Twenty-five years ago on the 21st, this little strip of Central America gained it's independence from British rule and from out of British Honduras emerged the tiny, but proud country of Belize! Banana Bank's own John Carr lead the parade on horseback, riding Aly Banana. The horse was decorated in the red white and blue of the Belizean flag and strutted his stuff in front of the many patriotic families of Belmopan and nearby villages. The procession grew longer as groups from the Belize City parade bussed down to Belmopan and joined the end of the parade displaying their splendid colourful costumes and dancing in the festival atmosphere in spite of the heat of the midday sun.

A fresh look in the cabanas
New at Banana Bank!

Our seamstress, Esperanza has been sewing her fingers to the bone to spruce up the rooms. Material was brought in by the yards, or meters if you prefer, and new bedspreads and curtains have emerged from her skillful tailoring. Major work, inside and out, is being done on the cabanas and soon they'll look like new!

Creature Feature

Chico

I'm sure some of you have already met our rascally spider monkey Chico. He always amazes us with his antics and loves to show off for our guests. In this picture, he's just hanging around waiting for someone to bring him a coke to wash down his peanut butter sandwich.
